Kik Codes are Kik’s version of QR codes, but with extra functionality that makes them valuable for developers, brands, and marketers. Kik Codes are image files that can be scanned - these images have data statically stored inside (i.e. dates, location where the code was scanned, etc.).
To generate a Kik Code, Developers make a POST request on their servers. Multiple Kik codes can be generated, with specific static data enclosed. This way, if you want to use one Kik code for Twitter posts, one for Instagram posts, and one Kik Code to post at a live event like South by Southwest, you can generate a Kik code for each.
When a user scans the code (either online or in-real-life), the developer’s server will know which user scanned which Kik code.
